I love breakfast. One of my favorite things to do is get together with friends at a café or restaurant and talk about our week. In Japan, breakfast/ brunch culture isn’t that big, but more and more places have started to embrace the concept of ‘breakfast get togethers’. One of my favorite places to go right now is a new restaurant called Tan. Located on the riverside of Higashiyama, Tan is a restaurant that focuses on healthy Japanese style home cooked meals. For breakfast, the chef serves miso soup, your choice of rice or bread, and six to seven small dishes all prepared in an authentic Japanese style. To create a home-like atmosphere, Tan has a long table at the center of the restaurant where strangers sit together to enjoy the shared dishes. Reservations are recommended.
