Sara is the first person I call whenever I touch down in Kyoto. Her extensive local knowledge & extremely helpful and friendly demeanor is what sets her apart from the rest. Whether it’s something traditional or something culturally relevant to today’s youth-she has you covered. Her English as well as her Japanese are completely fluent and makes it so much easier to tour the city with a true local.

I usually dread tour guides. It can often feel like information is being shared straight from a book rather than genuine storytelling. This is what made my tour around Kyoto with Sara so special. Her love for her culture coupled with her genuine knowledge of Kyoto and its history made me fall even more in love with Japan. Forget boring, outdated tour guides. Book Sara now. You won't regret it.

For all of your Kyoto needs, hire Sara Aiko! She’s young, hip and in the know for all things trendy and traditional. Before meeting, she mapped out an entire itinerary for me and my friends. The actual day spent with her was even more delightful, where we learned so much about Japanese culture at the shrines, ryokans and “hard to get reservations” restaurants. Sara is insightful, incredibly sweet and simply one of a kind.

My family and some friends toured Kyoto with Sara and we can’t recommend her enough! We packed a lot into half a day, with monkeys, amazing temples and an incredible walk through the stunning Bamboo Forest on the itinerary. Sara also got us all in to an exclusive and very popular restaurant for lunch – the food was magnificent! Our party included a pensioner, four other adults and two little kids and we all enjoyed every aspect of the day. It was well paced for us all, and we all learned so much about the history and culture of beautiful Kyoto. Sara has real experience and critical local knowledge – something you absolutely need to see the ‘real’ Kyoto. As well as being fluent in both English and Japanese - Sara was smart, friendly and fun – the perfect person to have day in Kyoto with. Sara is a genuine ‘local’ who lives and breathes Kyoto and its culture. See Kyoto with Sara Aiko and you will come away fascinated, happy and full of great memories. Thanks Sara!

Sara was an exception guide - she had a deep nuanced understanding of the cultural significance of all things Kyoto combined with the knowledge of how best to get deep into contemporary world! She was energetic, charming, got on really well with the kids in our group and (thanks to her background in making media) we also got amazing photographs of our adventures. We ate incredibly well, we learned a lot and most importantly we laughed heaps! Can't recommend her highly enough.

To say Sara is a great tour guide would be an understatement. She is one of the reasons I always recommend people to visit Kyoto, on short notice she gave us a lovely tour of some really cool places, was a guide, a translator, and friend by the end of my stay. She understood the kind of things we were looking to explore (I am a designer who was traveling with two photographers) and introduced us to new adventure and interests along the way. We started our tour at a very cool whisky bar run by a Buddhist monk, and along the way was able to visit historic temples, cool coffee shops, a crazy large anime bookstore, and some incredible authentic restaurants in Kyoto. Sara is a lovely human being, a great tour guide and anyone who has the pleasure to be shown around by her will truly be blessed with great memories!
